IDENTIFICATION CARD
Kaname Date is a special police officer known as a Psyncer for ABIS (Advanced Brain Investigation Squad) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. His job is to dive into the dreams of persons of interest to obtain information for criminal investigations. Each Psycner is equipped with an artificial intelligence known as an AI-Ball that assists them in their investigation. Date's left eye holds his AI-Ball, named Aiba, and together they work to solve homicide and serial murder cases.

Despite his position, Date is not an especially serious man. He often cracks crude jokes, collects vintage porno magazines as a hobby, and most people in his life relentlessly bully him. However he is loyal to his friends and cares deeply for the people in his life. This is especially true with his adopted daughter Mizuki Okiura/Date, who has been in his care since she was nine. All this said, he is a bastard and deserves all the mockery and bad things in his life.
